Sewer System Evaluation Survey (SSES)
Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV)
- enable sewer line inspection and rehabilitation activities
- diagnostic tool for wastewater and storm water collection systems.
- support the acceptance of new sewer lines
- internal evaluation and trenchless rehabilitation of existing lines.
Each line is documented in a computerized data acquisition system capable of generating concise data summaries including plan and section views of existing conditions allowing for the development of maintenance and/or rehabilitation strategies.
Sewer Line Cleaning
Cleaning sewer lines
- dislodges and removes accumulated debris
- restores optimal system hydraulic conditions
- minimizes line blockages, including grease and roots
- assists in odor control
- extends the life and function of a collection system
Hydraulic jetting
- light to medium cleaning
- combine cleaning and flushing into a single task
- facilitates inspection
- assists preventive maintenance efforts
- provides for emergency response needs
Manhole Inspection
Inspection Procedure
- measure component parts
- examine line for roots, structural defects, and debris
- identify infiltration and inflow
Inspection Benefits
- manholes are videotaped and/or photographed
- information may be catalogued and analyzed for future rehabilitation needs
Rehabilitation Management
Inspection Procedure
System rehabilitation can be a daunting task for utility agencies. Even after the completion of SSES activities, rehabilitation contracts and specifications must be prepared, bid, awarded, completed, and work accepted.
This process often involves multiple contractors utilizing numerous available technologies. Such contracts demand active oversight to ensure service reliability.
The result is quality, cost-effective rehabilitation to the ultimate benefit of the receiving agency and its customers.
Inspection Benefits
- effective project management
- agency personnel focus on day-to-day operational issues
- oversight of project scheduling
- development and management of contract documents
- facilitation of project accounting
- inspection of field services ensuring that contract specifications are fully completed.
Smoke Testing
GIS Mapping & Inventory Management
Data Storage & Management
MPEG-1 and MPEG-2
- ability to link to inventory records
- individual video frames can be catalogued, saved, located, and printed by observation
- used with non-linear storage to break away from the advancing and rewinding associated with VHS
Data Storage
- AUI maintains all data collected from manhole inspections, GPS mapping and CCTV inspection.
- Rating numbers are calculated for each component of a structure or segment
- Ratings based upon observations and defects encountered during field inspections
- WRc, PACP or customer specified severity ratings are used
- Resulting information allows for the prioritization of rehabilitation needs
Asset Maintenance Management Systems
What this means for you
- Combined GIS and inspection data
- Work order tracking
- Maintenance management
- Rehabilitation tracking
- Flexibility in the retrieval, sorting, querying, and reporting of stored records.
Results
- Data delivered per client request onto platforms such as CIMS, WinCan, GBA, or Hansen
- Provide data migration services
- Customized database solutions Integration with existing GIS data and maps
- Resulting information allows for the prioritization of rehabilitation needs
Contract Management
Contract maintenance services for collection systems promote a partnership with agencies to maximize limited resources to effectively augment available resources in a synergistic relationship. Services are effective for small and large collection systems, where a multi-functional crew can service numerous communities on a revolving basis. Skilled personnel is used to perform routine preventive maintenance tasks. The result is a more efficient collection system optimizing the use of existing personnel and budget.
Contract services include, but are not limited to:
- routine sewer line cleaning
- root removal
- trenchless point repair
- service line connections
Deflection & Air Testing
DEFLECTION TESTING is conducted for the acceptance of new sewer lines. Pulling the mandrel, equal to 95 or 97 percent of the average diameter of the line, from manhole to manhole can determine whether excessive deflection, offset joints, protruding service connections, or other obstructions occur. Our innovative approach uses a CCTV camera behind the mandrel to determine location and type of defect encountered. This provides efficient and cost-effective correction of identified defects and video documentation of each line tested.
AIR TESTING services are used for the acceptance of new sewer lines by receiving agencies. Air testing services are conducted in accordance with applicable standards established by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Air testing verifies joint integrity, detects small vapor leaks which may attract roots, and has replaced water pressure testing as the preferred alternative for sewer line tightness testing. In response to inherent safety concerns, a rigorous standard operating procedure ensures effective air testing that is safe for testing personnel and newly installed sewer lines.
